Meet the Band
Cowes Concert Band at St. Mary's Church, Cowes, Isle of Wight.

Musical Director, Andy Norman.
Appointed as Musical Director in 2005,
Andy composes and arranges much of the music for the band.
Andy is also MD of the Nodehill Middle School Brass Band.
Sue Hancock Principal Cornet.
Having only returned to playing in 2008, Sue is another great player
with a lovely sound. She likes pickled onions.
Maria Nicholson Soprano Cornet.
Maria lives closest to rehearsals and hence always arrives last
but she is a great Sop. player (also doubles on Euphonium!!)
Steve Millichamp Solo Cornet & Lou Millichamp Flugel.
Husband and wife team Steve & Lou come from real Brass Band stock
and are just getting used to us soft Southerners.
Elling Jonassen Solo Cornet (Band Secretary).
From Norway via Scotland, Elling performs the
admirable task of sitting fourth man down.
David Medland, Solo Cornet.
Talented young cornet player, David is one of our newer recruits.
Mary Teague Principal Cornet (currently on sabbatical).
As well as being a first class Cornet player, Mary is MD
of Vectis Brass and the Isle of Wight Youth Brass Band.
Stuart Kent Flugel
Formerly with The Baron Bratwurst Oompah Band member,
Stuart looks great in Lederhosen.
Lou Millichamp, Denis Bradbury, Ted Osborne & Nikki White

Peter Cooney 3rd Cornet.
Professional 3rd Cornet player, Peter looks after
the Training Band at Vecis Brass.
Keith Carden Solo Horn.
Keith spends his days making sure that hundreds of Island Visitors
have a safe stay. He is also Solo Horn of Vectis Brass
Anne Mouland 1st Horn.
Anne is one of CCB's longest serving members
but she was VERY young when she started.
Sarah Wilson 2nd Horn.
Sarah plays Sop for Vectis Brass and swaps to Sop for Cowes too
when Maria is away.
Ivan Jackman 1st Baritone.
After 50 years playing with CCB, Ivan has found fame
as a regular soloist with the band and as the Cowes "Flag Man".
Mike Worthington (now 2nd Bari.), Simon Smith 2nd Trombone &
Dave Smith 1st Trombone.
Father and son duo, Dave and Simon are joined by "Uncle" Mike.
Simon is our "Press and Publicity Man".
Steph Gardner-Tharme Bass Trombone.
Steph is another player who only recently
returned to playing (end of 2009). Great to see her
back again.
Dan Calcutt, "Bumper" 1st Trombone.
Young Dan is a very talented lad who plays most things
Tony Hebditch Solo Euphonium.
Tony masterminded the grant application which paid
for most of the new uniforms. Thanks Tony !!
Chris Teague Euphonium & Mary Teague Principal Cornet.
Another husband and wife team.
Chris gets eggs on toast if he plays well on a Monday.
Nick Collis EEb Bass (Band Treasurer).
A lovely, lovely man (well he is Treasurer).
Nick also plays with the Unity Stompers Jazz Band.
Dave White EEb Bass.
An adult learner who plays with both
CCB and Vectis Brass - it's never too late.
Harrison Marsh EEb Bass.
Another very talented young player and a
welcome addition to the ranks of CCB.
Robert Nicholson BBb & EEb Bass (but not at the same time - yet!!).
A very talented young player who manages to bring the
average age of CCB down considerably.
Robert is taught by former CCB MD and composer, Alan Ingram.
Andy Price & Andy Hicks BBb Basses.
One is really a trumpet player the other a viola player,
can you guess which is which ?
Denis Bradbury Percussion (and part-timeRep.Cornet).
Band Chairman and Big Band Trumpeter Dennis is a
very hard-working member of the band.
Richard Wilson Drums.
This Richard's known as "Willy".
Willy kindly helps us out from time to time.
